Understanding behaviour

A dog's behaviour is the end result, the last action, the tip of the iceberg. There are so many factors that influence that last action. Together, we help understand these factors and design a programme that solves the root cause of the issue, not just the symptom.

Instead of me being the 'expert' and you or the dog being the 'student', we become a team that works together. In the whole process, we keep the dog's welfare at the highest priority. Everything we do is to help the dog to feel better, gain confidence and become resilient to adversity.

Dogs aren't my students. Dogs are my teachers. Listening to them and getting feedback from them is extremely critical. Dogs aren't voiceless. Dogs do speak, we just need to understand their language.

I do not endorse obedience, using any negative methods, any equipment that causes pain or any method that increases frustration and compromises the welfare of your dog.

Consultation

Our first consultation is one of the most important and eye opening sessions in the process. During the 2-3 hour period, we together deep dive into understanding your better and come up with strategies to help your dog.

Some of the things we assess are:

1) Dog's posture

2) Curiosity

3) Stress levels

4) Habits

5) Patterns, predictors and precedents

6) Genetic influence on behaviour

7) Health and discomfort

8) Appropriate Exercise

9) Age related issues

10) Hormonal behaviours

We will also go through sensitive topics such as neutering, misunderstood topics such as socialising and exercise.
